How Clark County college football players fared, Sept. 1

The last time Simon Fraser won a football game, Robert Meadors was a freshman in high school.

In his first game, the Heritage High graduate helped Simon Fraser snap a 33-game losing streak. The true freshman receiver had three catches for 40 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown, in a 54-7 win over Willamette.

It’s the first win for the Vancouver, B.C., school from the NCAA D-II Great Northwest Athletic Conference since October of 2014.

Saturday also included other notable showings from Clark County athletes as most teams began their seasons.

Blake Roy, a junior tight end from Camas, had a game-high nine catches for 98 yards in University of the Redlands’ 20-12 win over George Fox.

Reilly Hennessey, Central Washington’s starting QB, returned to his original collegiate home at Eastern Washington. The Camas grad completed 19 of 32 passes for 164 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown pass and one interception. He also rushed 12 times for 53 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown run. Hennessey transferred to Central after his sophomore year.

And Jack Colletto made his debut at quarterback for Oregon State. The Camas grad entered Saturday’s 77-31 loss at Ohio State just after halftime, leading two touchdown drives.
