Letter: Bring attention to manhole covers

I so enjoyed John Chase’s letter regarding the defective manhole covers in our roads that do harm to our cars and are also bad for my teeth (“Manhole covers are out of line,” Aug. 25). I have also noted that the majority of the manhole covers are right in the wheel path so you can really enjoy a lot of them.

My favorite cover is located on Northeast 78th Street, going west in the left lane crossing Hazel Dell Avenue. That special little spot has been there for a very long time. If you steer to the left to avoid it, you then are aiming right at the concrete center divider.

I have a suggestion. Locate the Clark County road department’s phone number, enter it into your favorites and when you run across a bad manhole cover, call that number immediately and report the location of where it’s at. If everyone would do that each time, it would help the road department a lot in getting these defective covers fixed.
