Fruit Valley — The most recent of Clark County Parks’ Frenchman’s Bar Summer Beach Cleanup Series was Aug. 25, and 28 people volunteered to help. They collected 14 bags of trash, which weighed about 140 pounds, made up of metal, foam, wood, clothing and mixed materials. The group also picked up 11 bags of recycling, made up of roughly 53 pounds of glass, 4 pounds of cans and 2 pounds of plastic bottles. The summer cleanup series is run in partnership with the Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington and SOLVE Oregon, a statewide nonprofit looking to improve the environment and build a legacy of stewardship. The final cleanup of the summer series will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 22 at Frenchman’s Bar Park, 8800 N.W. Lower River Road, Vancouver. Anyone with questions can contact Karen Llewellyn, volunteer program coordinator, at karen.llewellyn@clark.wa.gov or 360-397-6118 ext. 1627.
