Letter: Stand up for something

By Rick Quintanilla, Vancouver

I just finished reading Leonard Pitts’ opinion column “Donald Trump, what kind of funeral will you have?” (Sept. 3, The Columbian). Between that and Meghan McCain’s message at her father, Sen. John McCain’s, memorial service, nothing else needs to be said, period. This man who receives so much glee from coming up with insulting names for people who disagree with him is Donnie to me.

Having seen the second part of Nike’s new campaign including Colin Kaepernick, I am proud to even be associated with the same part of the country that the founder and company itself are from. The bottom line here, I feel, is that their message goes along with the flag burning of the Vietnam era, resulting in the slogan and counter slogan “Love it or leave it” and “Change it or lose it.”

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
