Letter: Support arbitration for teachers

By Tom Tangen, Vancouver
Published: September 12, 2018, 6:00am

Our society understands the importance of some jobs, so logically there are laws in place that do not allow police or firefighters to strike. Instead, mandatory binding arbitration is used to establish financial compensation. If we value the job of teachers highly, mandatory binding arbitration should become the law for them also.

Our elected officials should pass laws to this effect, so there are no more strikes. Our education system is too important to keep allowing power politics to interfere with it.

Support teachers, support parents, support students, support mandatory binding arbitration.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
