Ridgefield — Classes started Sept. 4 in Ridgefield, with the district opening its new grades 5-8 campus, home to Sunset Ridge Intermediate School and the new View Ridge Middle School. It was Assurance Day at View Ridge as staff devoted the entire first day to only incoming seventh-graders and new eighth-graders. At Ridgefield High School, incoming freshmen and new students in grades 10 through 12 participated in Spudder Day activities designed to help them navigate their first year on campus. They also worked on a community service project at the nearby Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex, helping build a 2,000-foot trail. Volunteers from the United Methodist Church helped with the trail and provided cookies, and the Ridgefield Lion’s Club provided lunch.
