Bloodworks Northwest has sent an emergency shipment of 34 blood components to hospitals in North Carolina and Virginia in preparation for Hurricane Florence’s landfall.

Bloodworks is concerned about low inventory with Type O blood and other blood types and platelets, according to a Bloodworks press release. Blood donors should make an appointment now or in the coming days to meet demands.

You can make appointments at centers and blood drives online at schedule.bloodworksnw.org or by calling 1-800-398-7888. More information is available at www.bloodworksnw.org.
