1. Green acres

Get an insider’s view of farm living during the 20th annual Harvest Celebration Farm Tour, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15. Ten farms in Clark County will open their operations to the public so that local folks can learn about life on the farm. Meet the farmers, pick and purchase flowers and produce, see adorable farm animals, tour orchards and gardens, and get your hands dirty with demonstrations and activities. Farm descriptions with maps and a schedule of events are available at go.wsu.edu/smallacreage.

2. Find the fish

The silvery, ridge-backed sturgeon — a species that’s been around for millions of years, playing an important role in Northwest ecology and Chinookan life — is honored with a celebration every year at the Water Resources education center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver. This year’s Sturgeon Festival, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15, includes plenty of fishy, family fun with a live reptile show, fish dissections, birds of prey and hands-on activities. 360-487-7111 or www.cityofvancouver.us/watercenter

3. Night moves

Maybe you’ve been to the fabulous First Friday Night Market, which draws a panoply of vendors and scores of adventurous buyers to downtown Vancouver — but now there’s a second, Terminal 1 Night Market, in town, with a festive inaugural marketplace from 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 14 at WareHouse ’23, 100 Columbia St. 102, Vancouver. Featuring more than 70 vendors and live music, shoppers can indulge in locally fueled retail therapy while getting a preview of Port of Vancouver’s plans for Terminal 1. www.nightmarketvancouver.com/terminal1

4. Up and away

The Port of Camas-Washougal will hold its annual Wheels & Wings Community Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 15 at Grove Field Airport, 632 N.E. 267th Ave., Camas. With free admission and free hot dogs, chips and sodas — not to mention live music — it’s the perfect late-summer venue to see classic cars, vintage airplanes and antique tractors. Vote for your favorite and see who wins; trophies will be awarded at 1:30 p.m. To register a vehicle, it’s $5 in advance or $15 on the day; proceeds support the Camas-Washougal Aviation Association’s scholarship fund. 360-835-2196 or www.portcw.com

5. Fixer uppers

Bring broken household items to the Repair Cafe and have them fixed for free from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas. Skilled volunteers will fix your bicycles, small appliances, small electronics and jewelry. They’ll also sharpen tools and knives and do sewing repairs. There have been 10 Repair Cafes in Clark County, where folks with mad skills have fixed over 700 items. If you’re wondering if your item can be repaired, email Repair Cafe at repair@columbiasprings.org or call 360-882-0936, ext. 224.columbiasprings.org/repair
