Letter: Trump conduct disappointing

By Gerald R. Johnson, Washougal

It is sad to report that President Trump’s contempt for the late Sen. John McCain’s prisoner-of-war status was not unprecedented conduct by a nation’s leader. During World War II, Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin ridiculed his oldest son, a Red Army lieutenant who had been captured by the Germans on the battlefield. He perished in captivity, as did 3 million other Soviet prisoners of war.

One wonders why Trump supporters are OK with this type of attitude. It is obvious that Trump’s enthusiasm for military parades and ceremonial pomp are as frivolous as his yappings on Twitter.
