A Friday evening fire caused substantial smoke and other damage to a Vancouver town house.

The fire was reported at 7:21 p.m. at 3734 N.E. Royal View Ave., near the Royal Oaks Country Club.

Video posted on the Southwest Emergency Services Alert Facebook page by a witness showed firefighters arrived to find fire coming from the garage area of a newer two-story home that is attached to other homes on either side. The flames were quickly controlled, but photos taken after the fire showed damage to the garage and front room.

The Vancouver Fire Department fought the fire, the cause of which is being investigated by the city fire marshal.

The American Red Cross also responded and assisted three occupants of the home.
