Hough — Washington National Guard Spc. Robert Levy of Vancouver, an automated logistical specialist with Alpha Company, 181st Brigade Support Battalion, participated in the 2018 Best Warrior Competition, held Sept. 6 at Camp Murray. Guard members from across the state competed in the four-day contest, which started with an Army Physical Fitness Test and also included mystery events, such as pullups, a shuttle run and goblet squats. The second day started with a 12-mile ruck march, where each competitor carried a 40-pound rucksack and weapon, and also included Tactical Combat Casualty Care lanes and land navigation. On day three, the competitors completed rifle and pistol ranges, threw grenades and completed Day Stakes lanes. The final day started with an obstacle course and also featured drill and ceremony. “Challenges are nothing new to me; I went to basic training at 31,” Levy, who works at Wells Fargo in Vancouver, said in a release from the Washington National Guard. “I’ll never be one to blame my age on being beat by soldiers much younger.”
