The Vancouver Wildlife League will hold its monthly members meeting on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the WDFW Region 5 headquarters in Ridgefield.

The public is welcome to attend. Anglers can bring old rods and reels to be refurbished and given to youth anglers.

Guest speakers will discuss the replacement of the Lake River Bridge at the Ridgefield NWR.

Speaking for the project will be the lead designer, Scott Bucek. Susan Ellis, FHWA construction operation engineer, will accompany Scott.

Waterfowl Association to hold banquet

The Lower Columbia Chapter of the Washington Waterfowl Association will hold its fundraising banquet Saturday at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver. Vancouver Wildlife League family and friends are also invited.

Dinner Tickets are still available for purchase. They are $40 for singles and $75 for couples. This is a family event and dress is casual. There will be a special Ladies Raffle along with a free Youth Raffle on top of all of the other auctions, games and the general raffle.

For Tickets Contact Banquet Chairman, Doug Hargin, at 360-903-6951 or dlhargin@msn.com.

Forest Road 25 closure

The north end of Forest Road 25 will be closed until Oct. 3. The road will be closed just past Iron Creek Campground south to Benham Creek, by Wakepish Sno-Park.

The closure is necessary to repair winter storm damage sustained at mile post 12. The repair will consist of removing existing road fill and damaged pipe. A new 72-inch diameter pipe will be installed, road will be backfilled, and a new asphalt surface will be placed.

WDFW meeting to discuss halibut season

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will host a public meeting in Montesano in early October to discuss management options and select proposed dates for the 2019 statewide halibut season.

The meeting will be held Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Montesano City Hall, 112 N. Main St.

State halibut managers will provide an overview of specific options under consideration by the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) for recreational fisheries in Marine Areas 1 (Columbia River) and 2 (Westport) for 2019. WDFW will consider public comments received on those options in developing recommendations to the PFMC before the federally established council meets in November.
