In the Sept. 19 Columbian article “3rd Dist. hopefuls face off in forum,” Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler said she doesn’t need to host campaign events to “know the hearts and the minds of folks here. I actually am living here with my family.”
She certainly doesn’t know my heart and mind. I get her mass emails that don’t address my questions and concerns. Carolyn Long has met more voters here, in 36 live town halls, than Herrera Beutler has through her career. I don’t care how long my representative has lived here; what matters is that they fight for our values, not those of the Trump administration.
