Jack Mertens rushed for 231 yards on just six carries and scored four touchdowns as the Thunder routed Bay in the 3A Greater St. Helens League opener for both teams.

Mertens had touchdown runs of 45, 46 and 72 yards in the first half as Mountain View built a 48-3 halftime lead. He added a 25-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Quarterback Garrett Moen also added 131 yards passing, including a 70-yard TD pass to Makai Anderson.

Hudson’s Bay would relied on senior Toa Kaumatule for most of their yards as he ended with 104 rushing. Quarterback Parker Marsh ended with 88 passing yards but their offense could not overcome the aggressive Mountain View defense, which had two defensive touchdowns.
