Clark Roundup: Another clean slate for Penguins women’s soccer

The Clark College women’s soccer team completed the first half of NWAC South region play Saturday with an 8-0 win over Clackamas at Kim Christiansen Field in Vancouver.

The Penguins (7-1-0, 6-0-0 NWAC South) have yet to give up a goal against South opponents and have won six matches in a row by outscoring opponents 29-0.

Turner Joy scored two goals Saturday for Clark, and Sarah Teubner had three assists. Camas High grad Hannah Taie had a goal and an assist, and Union High grad Samantha Rosenkranz and Hockinson grad Allyson Findlay each had a goal.

Maggie Higgins and Isabelle Bauer split time in goal for Clark. Bauer had two saves.

MEN’S SOCCER — Southwestern Oregon scored twice in the second half to beat Clark 2-1.

Clark’s Michael Kimbrell, a Skyview High grad, scored unassisted in the sixth minute of the match.

The Penguins (1-6-1, 1-4-0 South) host Chemeketa at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

CROSS COUNTRY — The Clark men’s team placed 11th out of 19 at the 44th Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational at Salem, Ore.

The top placer for the Penguins was freshman Calvin DuBois, a La Center grad, in 59th overall with a time of 27 minutes, 37.6 seconds on the 8,000-meter course. There were 160 runners in the Gold Men’s race.

The Clark women did not have a team score. Freshman Nicky Figueras was the highest placer for the Penguins, coming in 68th out of 133 runners with a time of 20:56.6 over 5,000 meters.
