Carolyn Long brags about her “town halls,” but developments are undermining her narrative. Reports from her “town halls” detail requests for donations and volunteers. Questions are about comfortable, liberal issues. These are rallies, not town halls.
At the Woodland forum, Long became flustered when challenged over the $32 trillion Medicare for all. Earlier she said she believes in it; in Woodland she declared she’s being misrepresented. As she said, “facts matter”; her support of Medicare for all will impact the union’s benefits and the national deficit.
A campaign centered on “accountability” should go beyond thinly disguised rallies. She’s wrong to think she won’t have to defend her positions before independents and Republicans.
