FC Mulhouse Portland, a semi-pro soccer club that often plays in Vancouver, will compete in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in May.

The club will face Cal FC in a first-round, single elimination match on May 7 in Calabasas, Calif.

The U.S. Open Cup is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the U.S. and involves professional and semi-pro clubs from all levels. The Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer won the tournament last year, which saw a field of 95 clubs.

First-round winners advance to the second round on May 14-15. Twenty-five USL Championship clubs will enter the competition at that point. Major League Soccer clubs enter the fray in the fourth round.

FC Mulhouse plays in the Northwest Conference of the National Premier Soccer League. Last year, the club won the West Coast Championship tournament after finishing second in the Northwest Conference with a 6-2-4 record.

This season, FC Mulhouse will play five home matches in Vancouver. Those will be at Kiggins Bowl (May 19, June 1 and June 25) and McKenzie Stadium (June 21 and June 29).
