A driver who was injured Friday morning in an east Vancouver car crash may face drug possession charges.

Police were dispatched around 3:30 a.m. to the intersection of Southeast 10th Street and Chkalov Drive for a report of an injury crash. Medics and the Vancouver Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The driver struck a parked car and a mailbox, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email. He hit his head on the windshield and was taken to a hospital for evaluation of an injury that did not appear serious or life-threatening, Kapp said.

The man was cited for driving without insurance. He also allegedly had methamphetamine, and officers have referred their report to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for consideration of a drug possession charge.

The man’s name was not released because he hadn’t been arrested.
