Longview — Andrew Kamuela Perez, 18, of Kelso was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Stephen Warning on March 12 to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty in February to attempted first-degree assault and second-degree robbery.
Kelso police arrested him in September on suspicion of shooting at a man after robbing Xanax pills from him. Other men have already been sentenced for their involvement in the case: Dayshawn Namock, who received four years and eight months in prison, and Kele Bobst, who received three years and three months in prison.
Perez was originally charged with two counts of first degree assault and a single charge of first-degree robbery, each with a firearm enhancement. Had Perez been convicted of those charges, he could have faced roughly nine to thirteen years in prison if his charges were sentenced concurrently, based on his offender score.
Five years in prison is a low sentence for his crimes as charged, which carry a standard sentencing range of roughly seven to nine years. Prosecutors offered him the lesser charges and sentence based on his youth and lack of criminal history, according to court records, and asked for six years and three months in prison.
