Letter: No more Mr. Nice Guy

By R.J. Newell, Vancouver

I’d like to thank Colynn Wright Nelson for the letter “Crack down on scofflaws” (Our Readers’ Views, April 13). Those of us that pay for car registration are being taken advantage of and it has continued for too long.

When I moved to Vancouver 12 years ago from Portland, I was told by my insurance person that I wouldn’t be able to have insurance until I registered in Washington. Does this mean that those with out-of-state plates are driving without insurance? I live close to several apartment buildings, and we have counted all the cars with out-of-state plates while walking the dog, counting as many as 11 on one night. One month to pony up is enough time. No more Mr. Nice Guy; time to move to step two, ticket, or impound.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
