RIDGEFIELD — Louisa Garbo will be the next community development director for Ridgefield, the city announced in a press release Wednesday.

Garbo is a certified planner, certified mediator and an accredited LEED green associate. She most recently worked as community development director for Kitsap County, with prior work as a director of planning for the city of Brandon in Manitoba, Canada, and as a city planner in Arizona for more than a decade.

“She is widely recognized as a visionary at strategic planning and has a proven track record of success creating innovative ways to connect people with place,” City Manager Steve Stuart said in a news release.

Garbo will start May 1. She is taking over for Jeff Niten, who held the position for four years. He left the city in January after he was hired to serve as city manager in Shelton.
