Letter: Oregon plates have staying power

I must agree with complaints being sent in about out-of-state license plate cheaters. Two readers missed one big point about living here and ignoring the law: those Oregon plates are good for four years. Yes, I’ll say it again, four years. By all means, I am not making excuses for them, but I guess it is pretty tempting to hang on to them as long as they possibly can and take their chances (along with not paying Washington sales tax).

It is terrible, especially when I read about our schools having to raise money for our kids. We have a lot of folks moving here and welcome. I have been living here since 1976, and yes, with Washington license plates. I believe we have a great governor, but it seems the state officials should be concerned about this more than anyone. If they can’t do anything about this, let’s start paying like Oregon does and make our plates good for four years. Most of all (and I do mean most of all), our children are being taught cheating is acceptable.
