Letter: Look at both sides of vaccine issue

Thank you to The Columbian and Jake Thomas for including opposing senator viewpoints in the article “Senate OKs vaccine bill after debate” (April 18, The Columbian). Other articles written on the subject do a great job of highlighting the Public Health stance but downplay and sometimes ignore the existence of adverse side-effects from vaccines.

I’m proud of Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center, who was undecided at first, and with research was able to defend a stance against mandatory vaccination. I encourage readers to look for themselves at government data and vaccine package inserts before they decide to vaccinate our future adults. I hope The Columbian can continue to report on both sides of this issue, which is actually very complex and ties political, corporate, health care interests to privacy and personal rights.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
