3. The home front

Clark Public Utilities Home & Garden Idea Fair, April 26 to 28 at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield, is a treasure trove of bright ideas for your indoor and outdoor spaces, featuring hundreds of local businesses offering products and services in the heated Exhibition Hall, including landscape displays, farmers market vendors, family activities and one of Clark County’s largest plant sales. Admission is free; attendees are encouraged to bring donations of canned food. For details about hours and vendors, see www.clarkpublicutilities.com/event/home-garden-idea-fair/.

4. Power to the people

From 5 to 8 p.m. April 26, Clark College invites the community to an evening of free, family-friendly fun celebrating Latino culture and literacy in the Gaiser Student Center, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. “Celebracion de Mi Gente” (Celebration of My People) is held in honor of the Mexican holiday, Dia del Nino (Day of the Child) — marked as Dia del Libro (Book Day) by the American Library Association. Enjoy performances and activities, dancing, face-painting, games, crafts, snacks, and a visit from Clark College’s mascot, Oswald the Penguin. www.clark.edu/campus-life/arts-events/latino-celebration/

5. Night of ‘Laughter’

The Magenta Theater is offering a one-night-only performance of Noel Coward’s World War II-era comedy, “Present Laughter,” at 7:30 p.m. April 27, at 1108 Main St., Vancouver. The play follows aging matinee idol Garry Essendine, scorned by his estranged wife and pursued by an endless stream of infatuated debutantes and femme fatales, much to the dismay of his personal secretary, Monica, and his faithful valet, Fred — a wickedly funny encapsulation of the time’s changing social norms. Tickets are $12 at the door or $10 in advance, available at www.magentatheater.com or by calling 360-635-4358.
