With Mother’s Day on the horizon, we have an opportunity and obligation to assess what we are doing to support better maternal health outcomes for our moms and their families. Last year, Congress passed the Preventing Maternal Deaths Act and appropriated funding to better equip states to take a look at maternal deaths and make recommendations on how we can do better in the future. We would like to thank Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler for sponsoring the Preventing Maternal Deaths Act, working tirelessly to get it passed and funded and, most importantly, for keeping maternal health at the top of her legislative priorities all year long.
