Letter: Don’t tell miscreants your plans

By Ed Nelson, Vancouver
Published: August 17, 2019, 6:00am

The key element in any military or law enforcement operation is surprise. Why on earth is Portland announcing to the world all their preparations for the upcoming Aug. 17 event?

They should’ve kept quiet, made all their preparations, and dropped the hammer on these miscreants. Now, the bad guys know the plans, they’ll come more prepared, plus it’ll be a bigger media circus, and more people will show up to see what’s going to happen.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
