Clark County and state fire agencies battled a 1-acre brush fire Tuesday afternoon east of the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds.

Clark County Fire & Rescue responded at 1:33 p.m. to  the 2500 block of Northeast 179th Street, according to a fire district news release. Arriving crews found a blaze burning in trees, brush and grass. No structures were affected.

Due to the difficult terrain and remote location, Clark County Fire District 6, Fire District 3, the Vancouver Fire Department, Cowlitz County Fire District 1 and the state Department of Natural Resources were also added to the call, according to the release.

The department of natural resources provided a Camp Bonneville-based helicopter to drop water onto the fire, according to the release. On the ground, the state also provided two crews, with 12 firefighters per crew, and two engines.

The department of natural resources is investigating the cause of the fire.

Local agencies sent three engines, four brush trucks, four water tenders and five fire chiefs.
