Letter: Mainstream Democrats left out

By Vern Schanilec, Washougal

If I were a progressive I’d be very excited: free stuff, open borders, impeachment, etc. If I were a mainstream Democrat I’d be worried. Joe Biden doesn’t know where he is much of the time, Elizabeth Warren sounds hysterical much of the time, and Bernie Sanders should live in Cuba all of the time.

I have friends and neighbors who are Democrats who might be asking themselves, “This is what we have for presidential candidates? And, why are Bloomberg and Patrick entering the race so late?”

William of Ockham lived 700 years ago, and originated the “Occam’s Razor” principle which states: by cutting away the complications, the simplest answer is usually the right one.

The simplest answer to the new candidates may be that none of the current presidential slate can win the White House. Additionally, they may think Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff serve the party poorly.

They know the Russia-Russia-Russia collusion mantra is a hoax, and judging from the whosaid-whosaid-whosaid testimony, the impeachment hearings may end up the same. They know this cannot continue if the Democrat Party is to be successful. Progressives whose only source of news is the CNN cabal are excited. Mainstream Democrats, perhaps not so much.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
