Letter: Herrera Beutler is there for us

I’m genuinely confused whenever I read (eerily similar) claims that Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, “never shows up” in Southwest Washington.

I’m curious, does the definition of “not showing up” mean hosting veterans and their families in the Fort Vancouver Barracks for the Veterans History Project? Or standing in the rain to cheer on veterans during the Veterans Day Parade?

Does “not showing up” mean pulling together health care providers to discuss legislation to end the maternal mortality crisis gripping our country?

Does “not showing up” mean scoring as the most effective member of Congress in Washington state, according to the University of Virginia and Vanderbilt — measured by legislation signed into law? Her bills to help 300,000 medically complex kids see specialists, or save endangered salmon, or help injured service members afford homes — is securing those “not showing up”?

If this is “not showing up,” well, keep it up Jaime.
