Letter: Activist demonstrates courage

For those of you who would criticize Greta Thunberg, I would ask:

How many of you would put your career or education on hold to make the world a better place? How many of you would stand up to the authorities when they tell you to go back to school or your job and stop being a pest and wasting your time and theirs?

How many of you would suffer the ridicule of uneducated climate change deniers and be told “you’re just an angry child,” and still stand up to them?

And, how many of you would have the courage to stand up in front of the leaders of the entire world and say to them, “How dare you? How dare you put money ahead of doing what’s right for the planet?”

I don’t have that kind of dedication, but I am very glad this young lady has it. Now, if she can just get the greedy and politically oriented old fogies to listen.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
