Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks brass, woodwind and percussion players, active or retired. All abilities welcome; no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Vancouver Pops Orchestra seeks musicians who play orchestral instruments. The ensemble plays 20 to 25 45-minute assemblies each year in local grade schools. Rehearsals are 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays. Friends of the Columbia Gorge seeks photographers to enter its fifth annual photo contest, open to all ages. Photographs should capture Columbia Gorge locations, trails, wildflowers or wildlife. The grand prize winner receives a $300 Pro Photo Supply gift card and a large print of their photo. Winners in each category also receive a $100 gift card. The Portland Rose Festival and Oak Knoll Winery seek original art for the 2020 Rose Festival wine label contest. Oak Knoll will award $1,000 to the winning artist and transform their artwork into a wine label with the Rose City Label Company. Submissions will be accepted until Jan. 15.
