Girls basketball: Battle Ground 41, Jefferson (Ore.) 38

Mallory Meyer hit three free throws inside 20 seconds to go to break up a tie game and give the Tigers their opening-game win at the Nike Interstate Shootout.

Meyer was 8 of 9 at the line for the game, including 7 of 8 in the fourth quarter. She finished with a game-high 16 points.

A steal and 3-pointer by Abby Beall put the Tigers up 3 inside 2 minutes to play.

Battle Ground faces Barlow (Ore.) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
