Mason Oberg scored 16 points, Mackenzie Lewis added 15 and the Titans earned a hard-fought win at the Surf N Slam tournament in San Diego.

Trailing throughout the first half, Union eventually figured out how to defend a San Leandro team that had two 6-foot-3 post players.

“They had a really nice combination of size and speeed,” Union coach Gary Mills said. “We got caught early in some mismatches. In the second half, we defended 3-point line better.”

Abbey Kaip scored all seven of her points in the third quarter, when Union outscored San Leandro 21-11 to take a 47-44 lead.

Oberg also had six rebounds and four assists and Lewis added five rebounds. Ariel Ammentorp also added six rebounds.
