Brynna Maxwell scored 47 points as Gig Harbor pulled away for a 3A bi-district win and denied the Eagles a state berth.

Aniyah Hampton scored 21 points and Kamelai Powell added 16 for Bay, which led 32-27 at halftime. But Gig Harbor (17-5) took control by outscoring the Eagles 18-6 in the third quarter.

“We know we can play with the top teams,” Bay coach Michael Rainville said. “But we are inexperienced. We just didn’t follow the gameplan the whole way.”

The Eagles (16-6) face Bonney Lake in a loser-out game Thursday at Graham-Kapowsin High in Federal Way.
