Girls basketball: La Center 58, Forks 39

Mia Edwards and Taylor Stephens provided a second-quarter spark for La Center, which remained alive in the 1A district tournament.

After trailing 14-13 after one quarter, the Wildcats used a 17-5 advantage in the second quarter to seize control.

Stephens hit a pair of 3-pointers in the quarter. She finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, six assits and five blocks. Edwards had 19 points five steals and three assists.

Natasha Lewis (six rebounds and four assists) and Lauren Fox (five points, four steals, four assists) were standouts on defense.

La Center will face Stevenson-Elma loser on Saturday in Kelso in another loser-out game. A game time has not been set.
