Letter: Senators go back and forth

Clearly, political party interests prevail over the good of the state or country. Washington Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have been in the Senate for 26 and 18 years respectively — perhaps it is time for term limits.

Washington is taking after California more than ever before in our previously independent history. Seattle resembles San Francisco; pushing businesses out of town, increased homelessness and violent crime and violent protests. In general our senators support higher taxes, higher immigration (illegal or otherwise), less border security, green energy at any cost and increased regulations across the board.

An example of party-first mentality is their voting record: in 2006 during a Republican administration, they voted against H.R. 6061, titled the Secure Fence Act, that would have required southern border fencing along with sensors and surveillance systems.

In 2013, during a Democratic administration, our senators supported S. 744. This bill directed Homeland Security to identify where 700 miles of fencing should be deployed.

Now, once again our senators are against common-sense border security. They changed their minds again. Perhaps the change of their basic position has less to do with a fence and more to do with the Republican administration. Senators, please put our state above your party.
