Traffic beat out that weird thing in the February voting round for The Columbian’s Clark Asks project.

Clark Asks is a feature The Columbian launched in 2017 encouraging readers to ask questions about Clark County. We do our best to find the answers.

Reader Jen Kootstra’s question — “How is time determined on the traffic sign driving south on Interstate 5 before Salmon Creek for time to the southern confluence using either I-5 or Interstate 205?” — got 49 percent of the vote. A reporter will tackle this question in coming weeks.

In second was “What’s with the old red caboose off Lucia Falls Road?” with 33 percent, and “Have there been any studies on increasing light pollution in the area? Effects on health? Kids?” got 18 percent.

If the question you voted for didn’t win, don’t despair. Sometimes we investigate the runners-up, as well. And some questions pop up again in future voting rounds.
