Washington State University Vancouver welcomed the Year of the Pig on Wednesday with a Lunar New Year celebration on campus. Organizers marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring with traditional music, food, tai chi performances and crafts. In Chinese culture, pigs are a symbol of wealth and good fortune. David Snyder, from left, Nicole Hackman, Tom McNicholas and Bruce Hall of Taoist Tai Chi Society give a tai chi performance. Fran McNicholas of Taoist Tai Chi Society joins fellow members as she demonstrates that tai chi can also be done from a chair. And a young participant practices her calligraphy.
