Letter: Cooperate on Ridgefield schools

By Barbara Wright, Ridgefield
Published: January 8, 2019, 6:00am

“Didn’t my taxes just go up?” Yes, your property taxes went up because the formula for countywide valuation increased.

“Didn’t we just have a bond?” Yes, we just had a bond in 2017. We were able to build the new middle and intermediate school to solve a much-needed overcrowding problem. Thank you Ridgefield voters for passing it.

“I don’t have children in the schools, so why should I support the bond?” This bond will allow us to build a new K-4 school to solve an ongoing overcrowding problem, and improve the high school. The cost for a home of $400,000 valuation is only $36 per year. I do not have children in the Ridgefield schools, but I support the schools because an educated community improves the community and promotes cooperation.

Ridgefield improves because it has a cooperative community spirit. We can now all cooperate to improve our schools, and I know you will vote “yes” to the 2019 RSD bond.
