A 12-year-old boy is accused of killing an elderly woman found dead in her Eugene, Ore.-area home on Monday.

The boy, who hasn’t been identified by Lane County authorities, is being held at the Serbu Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of murder and first-degree burglary, according to Jason Davis, a Lane County Health and Human Services Department spokesman. He was booked into the juvenile detention center early Thursday in connection with the death of 92-year-old Erma Burnell, according to Davis.

Burnell was found dead in her home in Creswell around 12:20 p.m. Monday. Creswell is about 14 miles south of Eugene.

The boy will be arraigned in juvenile court at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Davis said he couldn’t release any more information in the case.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released any more details in the death, including how Burnell was killed or if she and the boy knew each other.
