Letter: Support Evergreen levy

By Phaedra A. Baldwin, Vancouver
Published: January 25, 2019, 6:00am

I’m writing in support of the upcoming levy for Evergreen Public Schools. It’s critical voters understand this levy is different from the bond that was generously passed last year.

That bond was to build new schools, something legally separate from hiring staff or funding programs. This upcoming levy replaces an expiring levy, in addition to providing funds for critical classroom technology. There is no downside for taxpayers as the levy will not raise taxes above the current 2017 and 2018 levels. Without this money, EPS will face the reality of difficult financial decisions. Please vote for the levy.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
