Art

Angst Gallery seeks work for “A Study in Blue,” an exhibit to run Aug. 2-24 dedicated to all things blue: azul, cobalt, sapphire, indigo, aquamarine, turquoise, teal, cyan and other cool hues. Artists can submit up to three pieces for a fee of $10 to $20 (on a sliding scale). Music

Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks brass, woodwind and percussion players, active and retired. All abilities welcome; no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Theater and performance

Pacific Stageworks seeks a diverse ensemble cast for the West Coast premiere of “Puffs, or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.” Auditions will be from 2 to 6 p.m. July 13 and 14 at the Hampton Inn and Suites, 315 S.E. Olympia Drive, Vancouver. Auditions will be cold readings from the script; actors auditioning for characters with a distinct accent or voice (Professor McGonagall, Mr. Moody, Myrtle, etc.) should be prepared. Magenta Theater seeks actors to audition for “Death in High Heels,” a British play based on Christianna Brand’s crime novel, at 6:30 p.m. July 22 at 1108 Main St. The play will run Oct. 4-19. Magenta Theater embraces non-traditional casting. English accents will be used. Rehearsals are Aug. 12 through Sept. 30, weekdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 to 4 p.m. All roles are volunteer and without pay. Poetry

Niche Wine Bar and Printed Matter Vancouver seek short poems on the theme of “community” to commemorate the ninth anniversary of Niche Wine Bar. The winning poem will be printed on wine glasses to be distributed to all those who attend the Niche Anniversary Party at the Kiggins Theatre on Oct. 14. The second place winner will have their poem printed on T-shirts. The third place winner will have their poem printed on beverage napkins. Winners will gain entrance to the Ninth Anniversary Party on Oct. 14 and their poems will be displayed on the screen in the Kiggins Theatre.
