Let’s review rainfall from your friends and neighbors.

Claudia Chiasson, Carson, .87 inch; Rob Starr, Cougar,1.61 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lake Shore, .90 of an inch; Judy Darke, Felida, .60 of an inch; Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 1.10 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 1.20 inches; Matt Sloan, McLoughlin Heights, 1.59 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 1.77 inches; Irv St. Germain, Prune Hill, 2.10 inches; Phil Delaney above Dole Valley, 3.30 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground, 1.81 inches; Bob Mode, Minnehaha, .77 of an inch; and our friend Roland Dersken in Vancouver, B.C., had 1.10 inches. In comparison, the rainfall for Vancouver USA was .69 of an inch, 1.16 inches below average.

Rob Starr of Cougar, which is the rain capital of the Northwest, said his calendar year through June precipitation total is 38.29 inches. His average is 122.37 inches, so he is more than 80 inches below average.

More morning clouds, afternoon sunshine and another chance of showers Tuesday through Friday. Most rainfall will be north of the county. It is possible we get a soaking if the jet steam moves further south. Temperatures will be close to 80 degrees and in the 70s on days with lots of clouds and sprinkles.

This July is bucking the trend of the last several hot and dry years. I’m sure that trend will continue as it appears our summers are getting warmer. This month is just an anomaly.
