Vancouver became the first official destination for a new liquid bulk cargo ship, the Intermezzo, when it arrived at the Port of Vancouver on July 11. The 180-meter vessel was built in Mailiao, Taiwan, and departed from Taiwan on her maiden voyage June 12, carrying a shipment of sodium hydroxide.

The vessel is commanded by Capt. Ki Suhyn of South Korea and operated by a team of 21 crew members from Korea and Myanmar. The ship is owned by Mol Chemical Tankers PTE LTD.

The Intermezzo is scheduled to offload 10,000 metric tons of sodium hydroxide at the port and then depart for ports in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
