Letter: Herrera Beutler enables Trump

“Go back” to where you came from. This bigoted and racist language has been around in this country for a long time and has been used against Italian, Jewish, Irish and other immigrants in our past history. Now it is being used by our president against four elected congresswomen who are citizens of this country.

It is no coincidence that these congresswomen are women of color. President Trump has put a bull’s-eye on these women and heaven forbid, should violence be perpetrated against any one of these women, Trump will have blood on his hands as will the Republican congressmen and congresswomen who didn’t have the courage to vote for House Resolution 489 condemning the racist language used by the president against members of Congress.

Our own congresswoman, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, is one of those Republicans who couldn’t summon the courage to stand up to our racist president. I can’t say with certainty that Jaime Herrera Beutler is a racist, but I can say with certainty that she is an enabler of this president’s using ugly, hateful, and racist language that has no place in our political discourse.
