Pearson Field Airport will receive a $794,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration, Sen. Maria Cantwell confirmed on Wednesday.
The FAA grant comes from the Airport Improvement Program for safety upgrades at the historic airport. The funds will help rehabilitate the airport’s runway, install a Vertical/Visual Guidance System to help pilots as they approach the airport to land and reconstruct airfield guidance signs.
Cantwell is the ranking member of the Commerce Committee. Between 2013 and 2017, airports in Washington state were awarded more than $380 million in FAA Airport Improvement Program grants.
