Letter: Thanks go to cab, Amtrak

By Christine Erickson, Vancouver
Published: July 26, 2019, 6:00am

Last week, I was riding on an Amtrak train from Vancouver to Olympia when I discovered my wallet was missing. Panic set in! I called the Vancouver Cab Company who had delivered me from my home to the Amtrak station. I also called the train depot and they were unable to find it.

A short time later, an Amtrak employee called to say that the cab driver had discovered my wallet wedged down in the seat of the cab. He delivered it to Amtrak who put it on the next train to Olympia. I was met by a conductor who put the wallet in my anxious hands.

Sometimes people are quick to judge and criticize those who provide public services. I give my heartfelt thanks to George, my taxi driver, for his honesty and concern for my dilemma. I am also hugely indebted to Amtrak for going above and beyond to care for me as a passenger and for their expediency which helped return my heart rate to normal.
