Letter: Evidence is not in report

I am amused by opinion writers that claim to have read the 448-page Report on the Investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election, liberally laced with redacted sections, and claim it reveals evidence of collusion and obstruction of justice.

Robert S. Mueller III was appointed by the acting attorney general “to ensure a full and thorough investigation of the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election” and the blank check “If the Special Counsel believes it is necessary and appropriate, the Special Counsel is authorized to prosecute federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters.”

If the special counsel and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff had any incriminating evidence on Donald J. Trump, the report certainly would conclude with the criminality of said Donald J. Trump — happy ending to a 22-month investigation of up to $30 million of DOJ resources. Can what Mueller and Schiff cannot prove or conclude be concluded by amateur jurists?

Mueller also comes up short on Concord Management.

The Columbian Opinion page on July 21 merits comment. In Our View is consistently good. Everything below that article ranges from moderately leftist to inflammatory. Nothing fair and balanced that day.
