MOUNT VERNON — A Bay View man charged with animal cruelty after more than 70 dead cattle were found on his property is now facing two more charges.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports that 89-year-old Roger Edward Pederson was charged Wednesday with one felony animal cruelty count and one misdemeanor animal cruelty count.

That’s according to documents filed in Skagit County Superior Court.

In July, Pederson was charged with five felony counts of first-degree animal cruelty and one misdemeanor count of transporting or confining an animal in an unsafe manner.

The original charges came after a Skagit County Sheriff’s Office investigation that started in January 2018 resulted in the discovery of the dead cattle on his property.

Pederson pleaded not guilty to those charges in August.
