I find the recent votes that severely limit abortions in a number of conservative states shameful, draconian and unconstitutional. Sadly, this debate is not about life at all. Rather it is about our patriarchal culture. In other words, it is about older white males having power over women.
How can anyone who proudly calls themselves pro-life be against the healthy life of women — not to mention immigrants, Muslims, gays, people of color, felons, and anyone who disagrees with what they believe? Might we be witnessing the swan song of the endless domination of white males in our culture? Might today’s Republican Party just have earned itself a one-way trip to the ash heap of history?
I am convinced that the great majority of women in America cannot and will not vote Republican in the next election. I’m fascinated by how many women will vote, and how many women will be elected in 2020. Might the 2020 election go down in history as the year when gender equality in our nation became a reality? Thankfully, each flip will help make America great again. America, if you want a job done right, ask a woman to do it.
